Tricity delivery
Kasauli is the trip you can decide on at Friday lunchtime and still be sitting on a pine-shaded verandah by evening. Sixty kilometres from Chandigarh, one steady climb off the Parwanoo exit, and no part of the drive that demands anything special from the car or the driver.
Because it is so short, this is the route where hiring the right category actually saves you real money. A hatchback covers the whole trip comfortably. There is no unpaved section, no altitude, and nothing that a Swift will not climb. People who book an SUV for Kasauli are usually paying for reassurance they do not need.
We deliver anywhere in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula free of charge, and to Zirakpur for a flat two hundred rupees. Send your licence and Aadhaar ahead of time and the handover at your gate is a five minute walkaround, not a queue.
WHICH CAR FOR KASAULI
Best valueMaruti Swift
SUZUKI₹1,299/day · 300 km included
The sensible pick. The 120 km round trip sits well inside the daily allowance, and it is the easiest car to park in the cantonment lanes near the Mall.
Easiest driveMaruti Baleno
SUZUKI₹1,999/day · 300 km included
Automatic, so the stop-start climb past Parwanoo is genuinely relaxing. Worth the difference if you are new to hill driving or travelling with parents.
For four or fiveHyundai Creta
HYUNDAI₹3,999/day · 350 km included
Only if there are five of you with weekend bags, or you plan to carry on to Chail and Shimla afterwards. For Kasauli alone it is more car than the road asks for.
THE KILOMETRE MATHS
Round trip, Chandigarh to Kasauli and back
120 km
A Kasauli round trip is around 120 km. Even the smallest allowance in our fleet is 300 km a day, so a single overnight hire leaves you roughly 480 km of headroom across two days. You will not come close to an overage charge.
That spare distance is worth using. Sanawar, Gilbert Trail, the Sunset Point road and the run down to Dharampur barely register against the allowance, and Chail sits about 45 km further if you want to stretch a two day hire into something more interesting.

Permits and paperwork
Kasauli is in Himachal Pradesh, so an inter-state permit applies the moment you cross at Parwanoo. It is already included in your rate and the paperwork travels in the car, so there is nothing to arrange and nothing to pay at the barrier. Carry your driving licence and the ID you booked with.
When to book
Kasauli works all twelve months, which is exactly why it fills up. Any long weekend between March and June should be booked several days ahead, because half the Tricity has the same idea. Monsoon is green and quiet and the views come and go with the cloud. Winter is cold, clear and the best value of the year.
One way, or drop back in Chandigarh
At this distance almost everyone drives back, and a round trip is the cheapest way to do it. If you want to leave the car in Kasauli or Solan and travel on differently, tell us at booking so we can quote the retrieval. Note that a one way ends up costing more than simply keeping the car, so on a 60 km route it is rarely the sensible option.

RENTING FOR KASAULI
How much does a car rental from Chandigarh to Kasauli cost?
A Swift is ₹1,299 a day with 300 km included, which covers the round trip twice over. A Baleno automatic is ₹1,999 and a Creta ₹3,999. Those figures include insurance, the Himachal permit, GPS and free Tricity delivery, so a one night Kasauli trip in a Swift comes to ₹2,598 in rental plus fuel.
Do I need an SUV for Kasauli?
No. The road is tarmac from Chandigarh to the Kasauli Mall and a hatchback handles the climb without complaint. An SUV only makes sense if you need the seats or the boot space, or if Kasauli is the first stop on a longer Himachal trip.
Can I get the car delivered to Panchkula or Zirakpur for a Kasauli trip?
Yes. Delivery is free across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, and ₹200 flat to Zirakpur or Derabassi. Panchkula is the natural launch point for this route since you join the highway almost immediately.
Is one day enough for Kasauli?
It is doable. Leave Chandigarh by eight, spend the day on the Mall, Christ Church and Gilbert Trail, and be home by evening. An overnight is better because Kasauli is at its best early in the morning and after the day visitors have gone, and a second day costs one more rental day rather than any extra distance.
What licence and documents do I need?
A driving licence held for at least a year, plus an Aadhaar card or passport. Minimum age is 21. Send photographs on WhatsApp or through the booking form and most weekday approvals are done inside two hours.
Is the security deposit refundable?
Yes. It is ₹5,000 for a car and comes back to you within 24 hours of return, provided there is no damage beyond normal wear. We photograph the car with you at handover and again at return so there is a record on both sides.
