Spiti and Ladakh are the two trips where the car decides whether the plan works. Kunzum La, the Gramphu stretch and the Manali to Leh highway have water crossings, loose shale and long climbs above 4,500 metres. We release only 4x4s for them.
The Thar and Jimny start from ₹3,999 a day and are the classic Spiti cars. The Scorpio-N from ₹4,499 and the Fortuner from ₹6,499 add seven seats, and the Hilux pickup from ₹7,999 is the choice for a lot of gear. Book the Z8L 4WD Scorpio-N or a Fortuner 4x4 for the high passes.

Which 4x4 for which trip
Two people on Spiti: Jimny or Thar. Four adults with bags on Leh: Scorpio-N Z8L 4WD or Hilux. Six or seven: Fortuner 4x4 or Scorpio-N Z8L 4WD. For Ladakh in a seven seater, the Fortuner is the more comfortable choice on long days, and the Scorpio-N the better value.
Leh trips usually need a minimum of ten days, and both Spiti and Ladakh tend to exceed the daily kilometre allowance, so we quote them as packages. Prices may vary by variant, dates, season, demand and trip length. Your exact rate is confirmed before you pay anything.
The honest downside
A 4x4 rides firmer, uses more fuel and costs more per day than an SUV. On a Shimla or Manali trip that stays on tarmac you are paying for capability you will not use. Take one when the route needs it, or when the drive itself is the point.

Yes. The Thar, Jimny and Hilux come in automatic, and the Fortuner 4x4 and Scorpio-N Z8L 4WD are automatic only.
