The diesel Vitara Brezza is the compact SUV for people who drive a lot of kilometres. The 1.3 litre diesel pulls cleanly from low revs on the hill climbs and runs a long way between fuel stops, which matters on the Manali highway.
It sits higher than a hatchback with around 198 mm of ground clearance, so the broken patches near Mandi or the approach roads to homestays above Dharamshala are less of a worry.

Strong low-down pull makes overtaking trucks on NH5 and climbing to Shimla easier than in a small petrol car.

Is the Brezza diesel good for a Manali trip?
Yes. The diesel has the torque for the climbs after Mandi and good range on the 310 km run. It is a two wheel drive SUV, so it suits Manali, Solang and the Atal Tunnel run in good weather, not Spiti or Ladakh.
Is your Brezza petrol or diesel?
Diesel, with a five speed manual gearbox. That is the older Vitara Brezza rather than the newer petrol-only Brezza.
